there are two holidays living in my living room..
friday my mom and stepdad bobby came in to visit me! i was stressed out a bit because my mom had said they were coming in saturday, and then thursday night informed me they'd be there a day early! after a stressfully busy week, that news was not well received.
but we had good times. and they took me to lowe's and got me a CHRISTMAS/WINTER SOLSTICE TREE and all the Trimmings!!! yea'! i adore russian/german esque ornaments, you know, the ones that look like upside down minarets?? and i got beautiful beaded garlands to wrap around my tree! its pretty fantabulous. i'm going to sew a tree-skirt out of pretty fabric from jo-ann fabric's or panasch's or somewhere. ((i thought panasch's had closed, but their sign is still up, so i need to investigate)
my favorite ornaments are little ice-frosted (look like they are) apple ornaments!!! ive always thought snow and ice glazed leaves, branches, fruits, etc. are so ethereally beautiful in wintertimes..add this to the fact that im going to be a teacher, and SPLADDOW! i had to have those ornaments! im also going to make ornaments this year, because its my first christmas tree that is for My Home!!! any ideers?? ive got a few already! and i want to order some ornaments from pancake meow that are adorable!
the reason my living room is being besieged by two hollydaes is that i still have my harvesty/halloween decorations up, but my parents and i wanted to start decorating my christmas/Winter Solstice tree together!! and since i wont see them again Until december 18th, we had to do it this weekend. i dont mind, but i know that a few of my friends would cringe at the mixture. I DO WHAT I WANT. hah hah ;) although after halloween, im taking down my pumpakins and putting them outside-theyre starting to attract fruit flies anyhoo, and i DO NOT WANT buggies in my home. [[har, har, the spellchecker didnt correct 'buggies' ..now im picturing little horses and buggies ;) ]]
im excited about matt-san coming to visit!! i still don't know what day he'll be arriving, or even if he may have changed plans and will be coming in another weekend...but i'm beginning preparations! if anyone has an air mattress i may borrow for a night or two or three, please contact me! my couch is comfy for me, but i'm only 4' 11" tall! we're prob going to check out the alice in wonderland-y bar at some point ((as long as its free to get in!!! or relatively cheap))
bobby got me a cable for my tv, and now i can watch 10 channels!!! im not much for most tv, but its nice to be able to catch up on the weather report and to watch saturday cartoons.. and PLUS teh olympics are coming up soon, and i AM SO EXCITED! i got to watch the figure skating and gymnastics grand prix something or other in russia! awesomeness personified! Winter Olympics are definitely my favorite!!! AND i got to watch Halloween On Ice, which was woefully subliminally advertised, but at least the sponsors were musselman applesauce..i can agree with the over-plugging of applesauce ads..especially compared to beer and tampon ads..sheesh ;)
AND i will get to see all of the HOLIDAY specials!!! i heart those!! charlie brown and claymation=wonderful ((to me)) a lot of people hate the holidays...but i still love them for the same reasons i loved them as a child. Yes, i know about all the commercialism and the hopelessness, and how people seem to only care about those in need around the holidays..
ALSO as a child my holidays were Always extremely busy, harried, and stressful. as an only child i had to split my christmas eve and day up between 4 different families (my grandparents are divorced and remarried as well).. and there was Always guilt and pressure (whether unconscious or not on my parents part) to spend more time with this parent, or that grandparent.. imagine all that for a 4-18 year old! finally, when i went to college, i got more say in what i did..jeeze oh man..
However, that doesn't mean, at least in my opinion, that i need to become jaded about the things that ARE special about this time of year. so i won't be jaded. and that's that.
christopherson is coming in this weekend and we are going to celebrate t-thugz' bday and Harroweens!!! yeayuh!! hopefully there will be some spooky baking and baked goods involved as well!!
p.s.
random aside:
my loaf of wheat bread goes bad today...off to the grocery!! :D [[i heart teh grocery]]

i teached todae!!
anyhoo...
hey! i have proper grammars when im teaching or being taught, so there! blogging is supposed to have bad grammar..so there!
my lesson went WONDERFULLY this morning!!! i made up this somewhat intricate lesson about original colonists/pilgrims. it was oregon trail meets those kinda boring lessons where you just write a diary entry or a letter home from the perspective of a person who lived at that time.. i had these cheap gift boxes from the dollar store and inside each i put a list of supplies a pilgrim might have and there were 4 different "families" and each family had a color assigned to them and each family had a biography on a slip of paper which included: their last name, occupation, skills, and supplies they already had. then i had the kids write up lists and ideas which would help them survive!! it was more detailed than this but i dont feel like typing it up. anyhoo...when the childrens came into the classroom, as they were walking in i handed them a different colored slip of paper and asked them to sit in the area of the room with that color paper taped up.. they learned!! they had fun!! (i saw them, they cant deny it ;) ) and they behaved 99% out of 100%.. they really got into it! awesome!!! yeayuh!

Antifetus & Big homework day- DELETED...wait...COMPLETED!
my antifetus is still working fine! no rage, no irrational emotions of any kind. no blips on the crazy radar. soooo much better than the last kind i had. the first couple of weeks i was a bit nervous..but its been a full month now! yeayuh! oh the joy!
I keep craving homemade pot pie!!! i want to bake one so badly. i keep almost stopping at kroger on the way home after school to pick up the ingredients. perhaps i'll bake one halloween weekend when christopherson is in town! yay! its kind of too much foods for just me. and then it'll be stale by the end of the week when im still not done eating it.. grrr.
im hoping my friend matt can visit me when he drives through to his home of charlotte, north carolina. although i think he may have already passed through. when i broke my cell phone by stepping on it a few weeks ago-and had to get a new phone- for some reason six or so numbers hadn't been saved to my sim card!! and all the numbers were for people i really want to keep in contact with! ive gotten most of the numbers back now tho.. however, i think he may've come through town when my cell phone was messed up or something.. ahh well.
I NEED to see my Jenbot too! she had her baby a couple of weeks ago! ive been waiting to call her so that she can get settled into mommyhood..but i can't wait any longer!! i hope she and carly-sue like the baby blankie i knitted!! :D
anyhoo...im starving. well, not literally. im an overfed american pig.. (read: sarcasm..kinda..do you ever feel guilty? i do..) soo...yeah. ima go get foods now!

"the grass doesn't get no greener.."
im graduating in may with my bachelors..then i'll be getting my master's in montessori at Xavier!! my gpa is good enough, now all i need to do is take the MAT and apply in the spring! i was shaking in my boots about the GRE. the good reverend loganus kistler phD tried to allay my fears..but the GRE scares me, plain and simple. so, upon hearing that i can take the MAT, i rejoiced!! Analogies are SO my thing!!
im going to get an apartment in clifton gaslight-so my poor car can take it easy. also, i originally wanted to get an apt in clifton gaslight, but it fell through, which is why im living where i am now. clifton has the atmosphere i want. old buildings, nifty stores, diverse groups of people. i won't have to be scared to have an Obama, and Celebrate Diversity bumper sticker there. as opposed to where i live now, where the rednecks may kill me..
i'll be able to afford a nicer apartment after i graduate too! i'll have student loans + a part time job.. now, this doesnt mean that im willing to pay out the arse for an apartment..its silly to overpay for housing to get the "cool" apartment or some such. there are fantabulous apartments starting at $450 a month, $525 a month, and $625 a month. $6oo-ish is the most im willing to pay per month. and that's for a superb apt in clifton with wood-flooring and huge rooms with lofted ceilings.. im leaning toward the $525 apartments- i just hope there will be one april 1st or may-june 1st available for me to rent! the thing that makes it hard is that i need to live on the 2nd floor or above. im paranoid. plus, i like to sleep with my windows open during nice weather- and while clifton is by no means nyc or detroit..its still foolhardy to sleep with unlocked doors (anywhere any floor with doors) and windows on the first floor! and hopefully i'll have my manfriend as a roomie-splitting the rent. then i can definitely afford my apartmentamente.
Although, every time i mention him moving to cinci. ever. , he acts the opposite of enthused. Even Though we'd only have to live here for 2 Years TOPS while i get my masters. THEN i can live ANYwhere there is more than one montessori school!! normally that would make melancholy.. but my life is moving in completely the Right direction, with my dream masters school (check out Xavier online), and my dream career so close. relationship stuff just kind of takes the back burner when your dreams are so close at hand.
so, i tried to stay away from the book of faces...but i couldnt stay away... heres how my relapse happened:
rachael and i had a perfecto day of amazingness with her lil' sister (big brothers/big sisters) and her friends at a pumpkin patch in milford! which is apparently "tree city america"!!! how wonderful is that?? and she was putting up the pictures from the day on to her profile and tagging them... and then... i cracked. damn your eyes facebook! damn your eyes! ALSO contributing was the fact that i cracked my cell phone screen and had to get a new cell phone (adding to my brokeness-my two year upgrade isnt for 6 months) and lost numbers i'd added in the last YEAR. seriously. it deleted friends numbers that i'd added last december!! and i couldnt get in touch with 5 very special people!! confound it all! so...im back on le book de face. sigh.
i still havent donated any dollars dollars (thank you mr. bertke for that cool-person phrase i never wouldve known) to npr yet! even tho' their fall fund drive drove me crazy. i really need to send a few doll-hairs their way- i listen to them EVERYDAY! on school days almost All day.
UPDATE on the stuffs i sold at plato's closet:
I made $38!!! then i went to gabriel brothers, which is like an even cheaper TJ Maxx but still as awesome (you just have to dig more) and got 4 new sweater-coats for $36 plus tax! yeayuh!! i heart being thrifty!
yesterday i went out to Whole Foods to see what hippie oils they had in stock- to see if i could create a new scent concoction.. perfume honestly only does it for me seldomly. then i go back to craving natural oils.. last summer i anointed myself with sandalwood and citrus everyday!! and Now i hath found my perfect new scent!! lily of the valley (the girl who has the lily of the valley store and blog is Really going to think im a crazy stalker now..what can ya do?) and Arabian sandalwood!! Floral & WOODSY! sooo grood! the sandalwood balances out the lily-so its not too floral and icky-sweet. PLUS Arabian Sandalwood has a carmelized/burnt-sugary scent to it that normal sandalwood does not- so its even MORE AMAZING! now its not just like Campfire smells- ITS LIKE TOASTED 'MALLOWS OVER THE CAMPFIRE smells!!!!! SCENTGASM!! its okay, you can smell me ;D i also walked out of there with Burt's Bees acne solutions scrub to use 3 times a week-my skin betrays me when i get stressed out-which is all dah times during skoo, and Awesomeness personified new body wash!! Method Baby Sqeaky-Green Bubble Bath!! it smells like rice pudding and marshmallows! it also smells like the Rice Flower & Shea body spray i wore senior year of high school, and freshman and sophomore years of college!! which stoopid bath and body works Stopped making. it makes my showers awesome :)

i finally did it...
i found 5 pairs of name brand jeans, delias and wet seal, that will Never fit me again..i just have to accept my butt is a size 7 on my tiny 4' 11" frame, and its never going to be a size 5 again. and thats that. ;) "shawty thick" hah hah. i found a vera bradley purse that i got as a gift- vera bradley=poison .. a World Wildlife Fund sweatshirt that shrunk. a hurley tee that i got as a gift and wore once.. im hoping to get at least $10 for the vera bradley purse alone... plato's closet does not pay well... im hoping to get enough cash to do a few loads of fall clothes laundry that i dug out of my closet and to procure a sweater coat or two to wear over dresses and leggings with boots. this outfit concept fills me with warm-cocoa feelings :D. then, once i get my plato's $ i'll do my laundry tomorrow-and then go through and find clothes that wouldnt sell, and donate them to goodwill. THEN i'll make a trash pile and throw it away...then vacuuming and mopping and such shall follow.
i dont think i mentioned that i got a new vacuum and tis awesome!! its high efficiency and doesnt use bags and is also a pretty 50s pale blue shade its just all around wonderful.
hmm... i should really be on my way...

2 posts one day.. follow the journey of my search for an e-reader and my TB shot!
ahh..
so, today i went to the urgent care center up the street from my campus and got a physical! the physical took about five minutes...and they charged me QUITE a bit more than it was worth.. i was a big baby about the tuberculosis shot they gave me.. i whimpered the whole time. kind of a high-pitched whine a sad puppy would make if banished outside on a rainy day. the nurse, to her credit, didn't mock me. she was a nice 'sticker'.. meaning she didnt hurt me and she was quick about her business, which i appreciate. i thought i might pass out though right after she gave me the shot. hah. i really dont like to get shots. the needle doesnt bother me-pshhh-i stick myself sewing all the times, and its def not the blood-i heart dexter.. its just the anticipated pain that gets me. i. do. not. handle. physical. pain. very. well. if someone looks at me wrong i bruise..hah. after the shot i said, "whooo..." and kind of wobbled on the butcher-paper covered hospital bed- or the room wobbled-im still not sure. the nurse probably thought i was some kinda batshit crazy. ohhh well...
i got to wear my plaid blazer that is all firey autumny colors!! its dark brown with pumpkin orange and yellow and cream stripes! and i wore the cognac colored scarf my grandma knitted me two christmases ago-its made out of this delectable knobbly yarn.. i didnt realize that my scarf matched my purse too.. ive been complimented thrice today..by two different girls in my literacy class, and by the nurse who 'sticked' me.. compliments are nice when they are random and sincere :) even tho i dont really like being all "matchy"... one of my neuroses?
winter is coming on quickly this year.. kind of pleasant and kind of frightening.. winter around mid-february (once the valentine's day hearts and chocolate-endorphins wear off) reaps the soul of my consciousness and warm-cocoa feelings.. however, i am excited and entirely positively anticipatory!
There are these things I lurv about the coming season:
* walking briskly through grey atmosphere all bundled up
* the sounds of boots clacking on cold pavement (cold pavement has its own sound)
* warm jackets
* scarves in abundance- i have two new scarfy-proyectos in the works!
* trees on fire with fall changes!
* crunchy, crackly leaves to go out of my way to stomp on! (hah, member that facebook group?)
* luminarias
* hot cocoa
* homemade pumpkin-spice coffees
* hot-water bottles
* camping in late-october, early-november (hah, who else knows 'the early november' is a band? i wonder if they ever made it...probably...i never listen to the radio or watch mtv so i wouldnt know)
* electric blankets (although im too paranoid to use them.. i still like the idea of them)
* pumpakins
* pumpkin patches
* pumpkin pies
* carving pumpkins
* pumpkin seeds
* jack-o-lanterns
* BAKING!
* halloween & thanksgiving& jenbot and tracy's bday! and now jenbot's BABY'S BDAY!
* crackling fires
* snuggling
* cuddles
* schpooning
* schnoozling (read: david the gnome)
* my purring furry naughty basement kitteh, dr. horrible
* the first snowfall!
* and all consequent pristine snowfalls!
* snow on christmas, new years (eve and day), my birthdae, and valentines day
* christmas! new years eve & day!
* my bday
* valentines day! i still heart buying harry potter or hello kitty valentines and giving them to all my friends! forget the adult evils of the day and enjoy the splendid things like kiddy valentimes or making lacy-vintage papery valentines for your friends and/or lover(s) and the chocolate! ohhh the chocolate!
ohhh the coming wonders! and its all just now begun!!!
and now..from a blog i enjoy:
"You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves..."

autumn bliss..
1) Sqecial- they had TONS of new stuffs! it was piled everywhere. there were more books by the guy who made the hungry caterpillar, there were lots of asian and indian inspired items such as a porcelain tea set and tea cups with strainers under the lids, and painted kitties.. there were stuffed elephants made from sari material and even new delightfully gaudy velvet virgin mary's, buddhas, jesus', and the like! ohhh velvet covered religious icons ;)
2) Rebelle- my favorite 'lys'- i learned this meant "local yarn shop" when i asked the cashier what it meant..they have free pins that say "Rebelle" and "i heart my lys"..i asked the cashier if i could still have the free pin even tho' i wasnt cool enough to know what it meant..being kindly like all yarn shop cashiers ive met she allowed me to take one, tee hee. i found an UH-MAZING baby llama and silk blend yarn that they are Discontinuing! im sad and made glad. sad because once the yarn is bought up..its gone. and happy because it was on sale for 8.50 a skein. i do so lurv my lion's brand wool thick n' quick-because its so soft and fluffy and thick and makes projects go by at warp speed (read: star trek ref=awesome, hah, im a nerd) ..but it gets itchy after 2 or so hours of continuous wear..this new yarn i found will Never get itchy!!
Their alpaca yarns were fantabulous and reasonably priced and came in Huge skeins..however, they were all undyed.. and that particular day i was looking for an ethereal pale blue..sooo...i'll def go back for chris' mom's christmas present from me. i have yet to knit her a scarf (last year=bath and body works set..i know, im lame) so..this years the year! im going to try and find the time to knit his grandma a scarf too-shes one of my favorite people :)
3) CD Central- i boycotted them 3 years ago because i bought a dvd from there, and when i got home, the dvd wasnt in there..and the d-bag owner wouldnt give me a refund or exchange and said that my roommate or a friend probably stole it out of my bag.. like i said, d-bag. however, i do still go in and look around and pet the puppy who hangs out there..and i heart the employees.. they cant help it that their boss is evil.. i may even have healed enough from my altercation with the owner 3 years ago to lift my personal boycott..hmm... ;)
saturday we went to RENFEST!!! we being=christopherson, myself, tracy, grant, tracy's good friend robyn and her fiance. twas awesome! tracy and shared a mug of mead!! mmmMMM!!! im going to try and find mead at nearby liquor stores! sooo delicious! i may even look up how to brew a small-small batch. if it can be done in my kitchen in crock pot, i may be in luck.. i'll type more about renfest later this week..i made an appt to get my oil changed at 4 (i know, where do they require appts?? well, apparently at the car-x near my apartment).. i also defended chris from a cookie-boy who was harrassing him and chasing him so that chris would buy a cookie. i stopped him and clapped twice and said, "cookie-man, i am defending my boyfriend's honour. leave him alone. he doesnt want your cookies." (i said honor with a 'u', hah) then the cookie-boy said, "but..i have friends that way" and i said, "okay..you may pass." then a viking came up and told him to "watch out for the little ones".. i kid you not.
after renfest we went to see Zombieland- that was seriously the best movie ive seen in a while. there were concurrent viewpoints all around.
well...off to my oil change..that is two months late..thank you car-engine for not esploding!

Pumpakin Patch Tour oh-9
i canna wait for ren-fest next saturday :D last year chris and i didnt end up going, but this year we're going with t-thugz and her lovah grant. so awesome. this year im finally getting a hand-tooled leather checkbook holder!! dammit!
sooo...yeah. my furnace is still not fixed! and the manager of my apt complex has been playing phone tag with me all day. grr. last night i had duke energy come out-because i have obvious reasons for not trusting the competency of my apt maintenance- and they detected seepage from a valve!! still!!! im considering asking if theyll just move me to an open one bedroom with electric. i cant really afford much more than a 10 or 20 dollar increase in rent tho' so...yeah.
happier news!:
instead of going to lame-o class tonight were going on a field trip to the cinci museum center!! its the one attached to the train station chris and i use-union terminal!! were seeing the egypt exhibit and imax for $5 total!!! yeayuh!
chris and i shall be in lex-vegas this friday eventide!! so if you wanna come hang out with us, call me or he (tee-hee)!! if you want my phone number comment on here or email me and i'll email you it or give me your number or...

i'm so hard i drink unpasteurized apple cider
so, my saturday was amazing at Sunrock Farms with stopherson!!! the tour was well-worth the ten bucks per person. we got to pet every farm-type creature imaginable!! i petted a rittle piggee for like three minutes...and then when i got home i thought, belatedly..."swine flu?" ahhh..im glad i didnt think of that then, cause the piggy was adorable. chris and i found a huge-mang-ous pumpakin..
**i'll update more during the week about sat. im just so tired right now..
since thursday night there has been a GAS LEAK in my apartment. and the apt. maintenance has been over Everyday since then to "fix" the problem. they fail at life. or, more specifically, at My life.
i heart the samadis even more! karima and i had an impromptu sleepover last night because the gas smell was still in my apt a bit and i was paranoid. turns out i had a reason to be!! this morning when i got back to my apt. i could smell the gas down the HALL. my poor kitteh!! i took him out with me today to get some fresh airs. he was not happy to be out of his home. he hid under my passenger seat until forcibly (as gently as possible) removed by myself. i just hope they have it fixed when i get back. they were there when i went home at 2:30 ish. i told them to just turn the gas off if they couldnt fix it today. im going to lowes before i head home to get a natural gas detector thingamawhat.
off to deathtimes.

never again coyote jack's!
anyhoo, enough complaining about that. i made reservations for two for Sunrock Farm's pumpkin patch hayride and petting zoo two hour tour thingamawhat!! basically you get a personal farmer tour guide who takes you all over the farm and there are fuzzy wuzzies and cider and cookie-type events, all culminating in a traipse through the pumpakin patch where you may pick-your-own pumpkin, then take it home to lurv and to cherish!! im excited!!! ive been waiting to procure a pumpkin (a big pumpkin) from kroger in lieu of a "real" pumpakin experience :D
**i still want to go pumpkin patching with friends too!!**
last eventide there was a frost advisory for my area- which was not pleasant considering that my apartment complex is fixing my building's furnaces TODAY. i survived tho'.. my kitteh and i huddled under my new flannel sheets and fluffy blanket.. he also woke me up several times and knocked one of my baby pumpakins off my windowsill...but, all in all twas a pleasant night of sleep and dreams and purring.
