ANOTHER snow day!!

so, i got the snow day i was hoping for! i do love student teaching, don't get me wrong, but i need breaks from the kids-as many as possible. they just wear you out. and some kid doesnt like me and got all his friends to not like me, which doesn't matter (it would be nice if all the kids liked me, but not necessary) but he causes disruptions in class while im teaching, which matters very much indeed! "my" classroom is a learning environment-for that to be so the children have to respect me, themselves and their peers, and stay on task, and make sure to let me know when they dont understand something. this kid doesnt like me because i gave him a detention and made him call home (which he deserved quite a lot as i warned him 5 times to stay on task). oh well. it Does hurt when a kid doesnt like me or one of my lessons-but i care more about filling their minds w knowledge and their hearts w a more empathetic world view. plus-children are mercurial little creatures! im excited-because im going to be taking over the classroom entirely from this week through march 8th or so. with all my lessons and what have you!

thursday night i Had to make the trip out to see chris! so i packed up two cloth shopping bags w toiletries and cardigans and my New panties and bras from victoria's secret and headed out. i got new panties and bras w my birthday money my marmie gave me :D i needed them too! i adore pretty underthings. i couldnt wait to wear them for my manfriend!! i'll eat ramen for weeks to have a pretty petticoat! (hah, i wish i had a petticoat) speaking of food i packed a wonderful lunch for tomorrow-i'll still eat it even tho we have a snowday- its an english muffin slathered w skippy natural peanut butter (the best and cheapest Really natural pb), greek yogurt with caramel on the bottom (!!!) and a golden delicious apple. yum yum yum!

chris was not happy with me for skipping school friday-but i wanted to have a looonnng visit. prestonsburg and the surrounding counties are amazingly beautiful. the tiny towns are dug into the hillside and/or placed in valleys. the main job suppliers are coal mines, however. appalachia is so jumbled between its ethereal beauty and the poverty of most of it's people. it made me wonder how that poverty will affect my teaching if chris and i move in together (which could happen if he still likes me when i graduate ;> ). my students will have completely different backgrounds than i- im up to the challenge, and i can't wait to help in ways im needed, but also a bit scared. teaching is already such a conservative field- add that to the majority of the population there being fundamentalist christian- its kind of daunting to me. i'll have to censor myself a Lot to keep my job. a principal got demoted and sent to another school for living with her boyfriend-and she was 50 years old!!
anyhoosle-
i miss my jenbot. i wish i'd stayed in lex yesterday afternoon and night, i knew i was going to have a snowday today, but i didnt want to risk it.

aside: my keyboard sticks a bit and it annoys the heck out of me-it skips letters and i have to go back for several words each sentence-bah.

friday chris took me out to the dairy cheer! so delicious!

hmmm...well, off to bed for me!
