so..i didnt start off today well atall..i woke up late..couldnt find any dry socks from laundry day two days ago..forgot to run my coffee maker till i was already late..then put on black fishnet stockings..then took those off because i was going to the Middle School (read: fishnet=unprofessional in my profession)..then put on a pair of mustard yellow stockings..then put too much soymilk in my coffee thus making it cooler than desired..then arrived to the middle school 5 minutes late which is Very Unprofessional..le sigh.
THEN: once i got to the middle school there was a substitute teacher, which made students who are always good get the giggles and the "not-paying-attentions" and "off-tasks", very serious afflictions. and when it came to my favorite class-the fourth period reading intervention/enrichment- several of the students who are usually on task were off task..then the sub Yelled at them- which is IDIOTIC because then it puts the students on the offensive and makes it a personal battle for them to undermine your authority..and the kicker is that the sub yelled at them and told them to "zip your lips" for ME. GRRRRR!! the kids were being rather good for them- not as good as last thursday- but still rather good. ahhh well. thursday im going to see if i can mend the bridges the sub Burned down. also-i wasnt prepared to teach, and the lesson was really beyond me almost, so it was hard for the kids to get it, and if kids dont understand how to do something, its Extra hard for them to stay on task. and i cant find my teachers email so i can let him know that the kids werent as bad as the sub is going to say they were. so, i Have got to find his email before 10:30am tomorrow and somehow email him so he doesnt go off on those poor students. LE SIGH! everything is so much harder for them because they dont have the reading skills they need for 8th grade. some careless people passed them through when they obviously needed help direly.
i mean, i look at it this way:
i stare big sharp knives at my grammar professor when im confused in his class-and i have to restrain myself from venting my frustrations on him or acting out/up in class, and stop myself from just walking out to "the restroom". and im an adult at a university. just imagine how difficult it must be for children, some of whom have emotional or behavioral disorders. so, the amount of progress we made in class today was monumental. and do not confuse me with one of those sappy "oh, at least they tried" type of folks. i have high expectations of these students, but i can also recognize what is a good effort for them. we Finished the task. thats a big deal.
well, off to my cah to retrieve my journalism book!! which i forgot! again! ;D
